Promoting Mental Well-being at sea

Poster for International Mental Health Day

As part of our company’s ongoing commitment to enhancing well-being and safety onboard, we are proud to introduce a new initiative focused on supporting the mental health of our seafarers.

Life at sea can be demanding because of the long periods away from home, challenging conditions, and the unique pressures of maritime life can take a toll on emotional resilience. Recognizing this, we believe that mental health should be treated with the same importance as technical safety, environmental performance, and operational excellence.

To provide meaningful and professional support, we have partnered with Med Solutions International to offer free and confidential psychological assistance to all our crew members while at sea. This service is already available in the seafarer’s native language, and all associated costs are fully covered by our company.

This initiative aims to create an environment where crew members feel safe, supported, and empowered to seek help whenever they need it, without stigma or hesitation. To raise awareness, a series of informational posters will be displayed onboard in key communal areas, and we encourage open conversations about mental health during upcoming safety meetings.

We count on all Masters and officers to actively support this initiative and ensure that every seafarer feels comfortable accessing this service when needed. Importantly, any communication between a seafarer and the psychologist remains strictly private and confidential.

In addition to this new program, we also remind everyone of ISWAN, a free, multilingual, and independent helpline available 24/7 for seafarers and their families worldwide.

Through this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding not only the physical but also the mental well-being of everyone onboard. Together, we continue building a safer, healthier, and more supportive working environment at sea.
