Our Commitment to Raising the Standards at Sea
A sustainable maritime industry begins with its people and we believe that creating a positive working environment means going beyond regulatory requirements. We’re proud to be one of 13 companies featured in the All Aboard Alliance report, Raising the standard at sea, from the Global Maritime Forum.
The All Aboard Alliance initiative aims to improve outcomes for all seafarers and go beyond the regulatory minimums defined in the Maritime Labour Convention (2006). The ultimate goal is to create safer, more inclusive and sustainable maritime careers.
One year on from the launch of the Sustainable Crewing Guidelines, following the Diversity@Sea pilot where we participated, the report shows how our industry is putting them into practice. Our contribution is featured as a dedicated case study under Guideline 6: Reduce isolation by building supportive communities. We allocate a monthly welfare budget per vessel, and the master and crew decide together how to use it, from cookouts and sports events to movie nights and karaoke. Crew-driven activities help build relationships and a strong sense of community during long periods at sea.

The nine Sustainable Crewing Guidelines:
- Establish clear expectations of respectful and professional behaviour
- Zero tolerance and clear consequences for unacceptable behaviour
- Set rank-specific criteria for tasks, training, and appraisals
- Ensure appropriate equipment and facilities for all
- Provide a reliable daily connection to the wider world
- Reduce isolation by building supportive communities ← our featured case study
- Offer flexible contract lengths and respect contract terms
- Provide paid parental leave
- Continuously feedback and take action
As a member of the Global Sustainable Crewing Standards Working Group, Mr. Sfakiotakis, our Chief Operating Officer, represented our company in the Alliance's first working group meeting that took place in September 2026. The initiative seeks to build on the Sustainable Crewing Guidelines which include safe working conditions, improved physical and mental health, inclusion and diversity, and flexible & attractive maritime careers. The standards will be developed collaboratively through workshops, industry consultation and vessel-based pilot programs over the coming years.
Thank you to the Global Maritime Forum, the All Aboard Alliance and our seafarers and shore teams. Improving life at sea is a shared journey, and we look forward to raising the bar together.
