Navigational Radio and Electronics Equipment Superintendent
Job description
We are looking for a Navigational Radio and Electronics Equipment Superintendent to ensure the optimal performance of all systems vital to the safe navigation of the vessel. The role reports to the Operations and Marine Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the proper functioning and oversee the routine maintenance of navigational equipment
- Coordinate and schedule necessary repairs, servicing, and inspections, ensuring minimal downtime for vessels
- Serve as the first point of contact for shipboard personnel, to provide technical guidance regarding the proper use and troubleshooting of navigational equipment
- Prepare and evaluate inspection and condition reports regarding the equipment’s major defects and breakdowns and arrange corrective actions
- Prepare radio & electronics specifications, schedules and budgets for drydocking and supervise the project
- Maintain an inventory of the equipment’s components and consumables
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and equipment certifications
- Manage relationships with third-party service providers
- Monitor relevant expenses against annual budget
- Review and approve suppliers’ and providers’ orders and invoices, depending on the authorization levels
- Monitor industry developments and changing regulations and ensure the fleet’s equipment is always updated and compliant
Requirements
- University Degree in Electrical Engineering or Higher Education Degree in Electronics
- Minimum 2 years' experience with vessels’ navigational and electronics equipment
- Proficiency in the latest marine electronics technologies and systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide concise and direct guidance to shipboard personnel
- Fluent in English Language
